Chapter2: Symbolism and personal Example

 " Set a personal example with visible, memorable symbols and behaviors."

I would like to make remarks through my experience when I belonged to brass band club.

I had respect people who is same club with me, she wasn't leader but I was taken with her 

because she always practice than anyone else and she didn't show her weakness for everyone regardless practicing hard. She didn't try to urge someone such as please get more practice.

However, everyone and I desired and respect her.

By practicing than everyone else, she became a symbol of our club. 

I don't know say its memorable symbol but I think she is influential person for us. 

Therefore, I wish to be like her. It is difficult for me to explain leader's definition, but maybe I think leader have to give precise instructions on rule as important as leader have to act like people are motivated to act. You know the saying " A picture's worth a thousand words," 

Next, I would like to respond question 3 of Expedition Log.

Have you given "the right speech" to mobilize the power of the team? Do you need to address your team members again, to reenergize the organization?

In the text, shackleton gives points about right speech. points are" right tone-calm, confidence and reassuring."I guess it very hard for everyone thus this ability isn't inherent in many people.

and I don't have this ability. I am shy and I don't like give my opinion at putting oneself on show.

so I have never given the speech for my team. however, as I took this class, I think I am given the chance which is break down my characteristic especially shy so I want to try to express my opinion by little and little. I mentioned earlier "ability", I guess it cannot get if we would not practice but if everyone will practice and try to give theirs opinions I think we can get this ability. 

Negotiation skill

We learned Negotiation skills from Monday and Wednesday!!!

I was very interested in this classes because it is difficult to build a relationship with the others

such as Win-Win.

Win-Win→Both parties satisfied with theirs needs.
Important thing is what each other feel happy and they are pleased with result.
avoid the potential for relations such as Win-Lose and Lose-Win

we have to give own information like needs and hope and in a similar way, we have to hear theirs needs and hope.

We start reading "Leading at the EDGE"!!!!

It too fat book:( so I want to try harder with everyone.

I am interested in this book than ELP reader because It is not hard for me to understand the contents.

However, I think we are simple to understand yet difficult to practice. It is not necessarily appropriate to suggest it.

I would like to touch the content of Preface and The Shackleton Saga.

Preface is written introduction and transition about this book and there are some questions last section of preface. Therefore, I would like to respond it though my experience.

When I was high school student, I was in brass band club. I played the role of part leader. 

I could learn though it. 

 First, On leadership, I think leaders need to sustain a balance both own needs and team. It is important to having own opinion and value but I think leader have to give opportunity to hear someone's thoughts. Thus one person cannot do anything by own self and one person cannot move the team. 

I tend to think I try to harder than everyone and I have to make effort than them but it is wrong. 

My friend told me that this part is not yours, so you have to rely on everyone and you have to hear members opinion. It is too difficult to maintain a balance own needs and team needs but I think it is important thing.

 Second, It is necessary to play good performance so  I had lunch with everyone even if we were busy.

everyone tend to think only performance it's important but we are not only team but also friend therefore I want to establish a trust relationship with my friends and I want to share the value though having conversation. Therefore I respected lunch time. Important thing is not spending long time but gathering together.

 Next, I would like to focus on "The Shackleton Saga".
I cannot believe it!!!!!!! Shakleton and his crew can survive and I respect him because he didn't try to lose his enthusiasm. Even if Shakleton anｄ his crew faced difficulty, they  tried to find other method.
They didn't give up so I want to use in my life.

First Impressions

 We learned about interpersonal communication. when we meet someone for the first time, correspondences differ in the Japanese society and Western society.

Japanese people definitely bow. For example, I would like to talking about my part-time. 

I work in the book shop. I was always said that you have to make a good first impression at customer.

Therefore I have to learn the bow and smiling. There are certain levels of bowing and each angle of bowing a different impression.For instance,  When they are making a apology, angle of bowing is 45°.

Similarly, smiling is very important  to give good impressions. because it give a warm smile, They happen automatically smiling . I am told by store manager to keep smile because smile is the most important thing on service. I think  it is hard to change a first impression so I want to be careful about it and I want to gain the way to be given someone good impression.

On the other hand, In western society, when we meet someone for the first time, they shake someone by the hand.In this point important thing is brief, warm, firm and also smiling and eye contact is necessary.Both smiling and eye contact are essential at all time.

Self Introduction!

Hello, I'm Miho Nishihara!!

I would like to introduce about me. I'm from Osaka and now I live in 3WD. 

My hobby is playing the flute and watching the recipe book. I was in a brass band for 6 years and I have been playing to do solo. Also I like watching the recipe book because I　love to eat but I'm not good at cooking :(( I want to improve my cooking ability and I want to cook a delicious meal! I would like to ask them to do me a favor.. Please tell me the shop tasting good in Tokyo. I think delicious food will make them happy:) 

The reason why I chose this class is that I cannot express my feeling because I am shy. So I want to be able to socialize with everyone and I want to use of having learned in my life.

I want to get friendly with everyone!!!
